What girl doesn’t like a beautiful pair of stilettos to prance around in? Stilettos can offer a way to sex up your look while giving you a true feminine feeling as only heels can.
For many, the fear of walking in heels or the uneasiness of finding the right pair to go with your clothing style will often keep them away. Well, Glamour Boutique would like to tell you not to worry and embrace all the greatness that comes with wearing stilettos. Why Wear Stilettos?
Now some of you may ask, why stilettos? Why can’t I just wear a pair of flats and not worry about it? Well, for one, stilettos create more of a femme shape. High heels can accentuate your curves while giving your butt some nice curvature. It will also push your torso forward a bit, giving you an all-around curvy look. Lastly, it can make your legs look longer and we know how sexy a nice long pair of long legs are. Plus your cavs will look amazing. I would say these are all big positives.
When it comes to men wearing heels, there could be challenges at first. With that being said, some of us can put on 5-inch stilettos and start strutting around like it’s nobodies business. Others need a little time and practice. If you are new to wearing heels, we suggest that you start low and work your way up. A two-inch kitten heel or three-inch heel is a good start. Once you get comfortable walking in those heels, it’ll be time to get yourself a pair of stilettos and really go for it.
What Size Stilettos to Choose
One main issue we face is sizing, as larger sizes aren’t always available in women’s shoe stores, so finding stilettos for men can be a challenge. It pays to do your research and find a store that specializes in high heels for men such as Glamour Boutique. A good rule of thumb is to go up two sizes from your male shoe size. For example, if you wear a size 12 male shoe, then you should be purchasing a size 14 stiletto. If you are in doubt, go to a shoe store and get your foot measured properly to see what size you ultimately need. You want to be sure that the shoes aren’t too tight or too big as that will only cause discomfort and trouble walking as stability and comfort are both musts.
How to Choose a Pair of Stilettos
Once you have your size sorted out, your next step would be finding the right shoe. With so many styles to choose from, the search can be endless. Before you know it, you may have a closet full of shoes, but is there really a problem with having a lot of shoes? Am I Right? First, decide if you are looking for an open toe (peep toe) or a closed toe stiletto. If you’d like a little extra support, an ankle strap is a great choice. Also, take into account the finish of the shoe. You can go for Patent (shiny), non-patent (not shiny) or depending on the look you are going for there are other options out there such as velvet. Most of this will be dictated by what clothing you are going to wear. Which brings us to our next tip.
What Outfits Work Best With Stilettos?
A patent (shiny) black shoe is a great companion for evening wear or an elegant outfit as the shininess of the shoe will really pop. A nice bodycon dress is a perfect fit here or even a nice deep V dress.
Non-patent (not shiny) shoes are more common for casual wear like jeans. Nude or neutral colored heels work best with jeans and casual/day wear or even a nice floral dress. If you are wearing jeans, make a double cuff at the bottom, as one of the sexiest parts of wearing heels is showing off your ankles, so this will still let those ankles be seen even when casual. Low cut pumps help this look as well as we can show off some toe cleavage. Another way to go is to wear wide bottomed jeans that cover the heels almost completely with just the tips showing.
One classic look that never goes out of style, is a sexy pair of stilettos with a pencil skirt, some pantyhose, and a nice blouse. No matter what outfit you choose, you’ll never go wrong with some nice stilettos on your feet. Taking Care of Your Stilettos
Once you find a pair of stilettos that you love, you must be sure to care for them properly to ensure their longevity. After a day or night of use, be sure to wipe down the heels of any debris or dirt. You can use a cleaning solution, but be sure it will not tarnish or compromise the shoe before using. If you are not sure, give us a call and we would be more than happy help with cleaning advice. If you have the ability, invest in a shoe rack to store your shoes. At the least, keep the shoes in a container or their original shoe box to keep them protected.
As the shoes wear a bit over time, you may want to find a local cobbler in your area so you can have a professional repair your shoes or invest in a shoe repair kit that you can use at home.
There really is nothing like slipping on a pair of stilettos and walking around. They can make us feel sexy, elegant and feminine.
