Our first Glamour Girl Eye Candy Month
Last July, we had our first Glamour Girl Eye Candy Month which featured 4 of our Glamour Girl Contest finalists/winners. We are keeping up with this summer tradition as we get to know more about this year’s finalists and winners.
Every year since we started the Newcomers category in our Glamour Girl Contest, we have gotten a few entries where a girl makes it into the Top 10 in their age group as well as the Newcomers. This year Gina Angelo was one of those special few. We like to call these girls Double Trouble and Gina has definitely proven to be just that. We caught up with Gina after letting her know of her special feat.
Congratulations on finishing in our Top 3 Newcomers in this year’s Glamour Girl Contest as well as the Top 10 in the Cougar category. How does it feel?
I was surprised and grateful to finish 3rd in the Newcomer category as well as place in the Top Ten for Cougars. I did not expect any of this to happen. Honestly, I entered the contest because I am not getting any younger.
Tell us how you go about choosing your outfits and how you choose what photos to submit.
I have been married and I was taught how to buy clothes for a woman’s wardrobe. I adhere to the idea of a Capsule Wardrobe so picking outfits is just matching tops and bottoms (and catalogs are a great place for inspiration). As for photos, I wanted to capture different looks. I pride myself on having a variety of looks so that I don’t always appear the same.
What advice would you give girls entering the contest next year?
Pick a few good photos and if you don’t have any, then take them now!! You only have less than a year. Also, don’t take it too seriously and have fun with it.
Any final words for your fellow girls? Our readers and judges?
The competition was stiff and again I am grateful to have placed. To the readers and judges, thank you for the kind words and I will see you next year.
Let’s start our main interview by letting our readers know where you are from?
I am from a mid-sized town in Michigan, but I have called the San Francisco Bay Area home for over 20 years now.
When did you first start dressing and how did it come about?
I fully dressed for the first time in March 2017. Yes, I am new to this world. I had thought about starting to dress a few years before, but I finally took the plunge for a transformation service in Seattle (Thanks Annie). Once I saw myself, I realized that this was more than a passing fancy.
How did you come up with your Femme name?
I don’t really recall. My Italian heritage, I guess. I just liked the name Gina, short and sweet.
How often do you dress?
I am a busy professional, but when I have the week off at home, I will get dressed 3-4 times at least. I go out socially or to do my normal errands.
Are you married/in a relationship? If yes, are you able to share your female self with your partner?
That is a three-bourbon story, lol. No, I am not married, I am going through another divorce. She knew, seemed to approve, but never saw me dressed. Then it crashed and Gina moved on.
What are some of your favorite outfits/fashions?
As you can see from my photos, I like to be eclectic. I like clothes from different eras, whether it be the 40’s or the 80’s and I have a variety of hair choices. I have too many looks to have a favorite.
Stockings or pantyhose?
Pantyhose, but I don’t wear them often.
Heels or flats?
You will rarely catch me in flats.
Favorite places to go when dressed?
Anywhere, whether it be Safeway or Walgreens, to clubs, bars, or restaurants. I am a Transgender Two Spirit and Gina enjoys just doing normal day things as much as going out.
Go to accessories for a night out
Bracelets, heels, big lashes, and a perfect lip. However, all outfits start with the choice of hair and that is what I am known for.
Who is/are your female role model(s) and why?
I really have no female role models, and until you asked me the question, I had never thought about it. I guess, coming out as Gina was about becoming my own role model.
Tell us some fun facts about yourself. What are your hobbies (either when dressed or not), likes, things you do in your spare time, or anything else you would like to share?
I think it would surprise many people to learn that I am an academic physician, practicing at a tertiary care medical center. My specialties have been in high demand lately, anesthesiology and intensive care medicine, so I have not had a lot of free time as of late. Getting dressed has helped me deal with some of the stress, as Gina doesn’t work in a hospital.
Any stories you would like to share about yourself and your journey?
I had started to dress in private before my marriage fell apart, but once separated, I took the freedom I had to really pursue finding out who Gina was and how she looked. I started dressing in March 2017 and began the process of learning makeup in October 2017. So, I have rapidly progressed over a few short years, but given my age (58) I decided that I wanted to see all of Gina quickly. I learned that I could best be described as a Transgender Two Spirit, having both a male and female persona. There is a lot of overlap, yet some unique aspects of both. Gina has taught my other half quite a few lessons.

Before we go, would you like to send a message to your fellow girls out there or a closing statement.
It is human nature to compare yourself to others, but don’t. Seek inspiration from others, whether it is their journey, their eyeshadow technique, or their acceptance of themselves. Unrealistic competition does not produce a winner and a loser, it just produces two losers.
