Breast Form Adhesive Review

BREAST FORM ADHESIVE REVIEW

A common question we are asked frequently is: ‘What’s the best breast form adhesive?’ Over the years we have tested and sold the most popular adhesives on the market and we have our favorites. But what about our customers – what do they think?

With the ever popular Hollister Spray Adhesive being discontinued and the introduction recently of a new spray adhesive we took the time to run a questionnaire again. This time we included the addition of 2 newer products we have been selling but the questions remained the same.

Main Criteria for judging the Best Breast Form Adhesive

We kept the questionnaire short and asked users to concentrate on only 4 main qualities of breast form adhesive:

For the 4 main criteria we asked each person to mark the individual adhesive out of 10 so that there was a maximum score of 40 to be given to each of the different products.

We have reviewed 5 products on this latest questionnaire to cover 5 of the most popular products our customers use. All are now widely available in the U.S. and some are also available outside of the U.S. A couple of rules for making the list were that they had to be silicone friendly as well as medical grade and safe for use on skin. The reviewed products were:

    1. Ten Aces Medical Spray Adhesive
    2. Glamour Boutique Breast Form Adhesive
    3. Ostobond
    4. Torbot Bonding Cement
    5. It Stays

The following results are based on averages of all the feedback we received.

Ease of Use:

Most adhesive products are either a brush application, spray or in the case of It Stays, a roll-on. For ease of use Ten Aces and It Stays scored the highest with the 3 adhesives that use brush applicators taking a little more time. A number of respondents mentioned that Ostobond with it’s white rubber finish can be messy putting on if you overdo the application. The clear spray of Ten Aces Medical Adhesive, the clear roll-on of It Stays and the Glamour Boutique clear brush on adhesive proved more user-friendly and less messy to use.

Verdict:

Staying Power/Performance:

The marks here were pretty equal across the board except for the low marks of It Stays, and for good reason. A good number of breast form sellers market It Stays as breast form adhesive but that is not it’s primary function. Indeed, we only sell it as silicone nipple adhesive to attach larger nipples to breast forms. Whilst it works ok with small enhancers It Stays cannot withstand heavier breast forms. Also, It Stays is water-based and so tends to weaken as you sweat. Persons that have tried Ostobond and the Torbot product note that Torbot does not last as long. A good number of responders noted they can wear breast forms for over 24 hours, safely and effectively when using Ten Aces Medical Adhesive and the Glamour Boutique clear Adhesive. * (We do not recommend wearing forms for such a long time for everyone, especially those with sensitive skin).

Verdict:

Safety:

All products listed are recommended for use both on human skin and silicone products and so safe to use. However, we have had reports of some that can irritate the skin more than others. 2 responders mention burning sensation and irritated skin when using Ostobond. Others also mention the strong, unpleasant smell of ammonia when applying Ostobond. One person even mentioned blistering. One responder mentioned a similar burning sensation and red skin when using the Torbot product. We recommend before using a new breast form adhesive for the first time that you apply a small patch of it to the inside of your wrist, cover with a medical gauze and leave for approximately 4 hours. Uncover and look for any reaction or redness before using on your chest.

Verdict:

Value for Money:

Whilst nearly everyone highlighted how Ten Aces Medical Adhesive is more expensive than the others, nearly everyone with experience of it said it was ‘value for money’ due to its performance. It was noted that in return for convenience of a spray there is an element of waste since it is difficult to apply the spray as exactly as a brush applicator. A number of respondents also mentioned that by using Skin Tac wipes it is possible to make your Ten Aces last at least 50% longer and so reducing the number of purchases needed in the year. Whilst It Stays is certainly much cheaper, it does not have the performance of the other adhesives and so for use with most breast forms was not considered to be of ‘value for money’. Also noted here was the fact Ten Aces and the Glamour Boutique adhesives come in 2 sizes. More value is gained buying the larger size but for infrequent users, it was recommended a small size was a good idea.

Verdict:

Conclusion:

First and foremost we would always advise customers to be safe so make sure you use medically approved breast form adhesive. Be careful of adhesives sold as medical adhesives which are not intended for use on human skin and can be cancer-causing. Even with approved breast form adhesive make sure you purchase from a reputable dealer and not a fake/knock-off version from an obscure overseas trader, for example. Always carry out the wrist skin test when using a breast form adhesive for the first time. The crowd pleaser in the breast form adhesive category is Ten Aces Medical Spray Adhesive as your best all-round convenient solution solution. This was closely followed by the value for money Glamour Boutique product with it’s accurate brush applicator and long staying power. Be safe and be secure.

Final Verdict:

Don’t forget you will need Breast Forms Adhesive Remover in order to clean your breast forms so they are ready for adhesive application the next time. Look out for Breast Form Saver Packs that bundle the products you need for gluing breast forms and cleaning them and save you money at the same time.
