HOW FACEBOOK CHANGED MY CD LIFE
Where else can you meet like-minded girls online apart from forums, dating sites etc? Facebook, particularly for the younger crossdresser is an invaluable tool these days but what if you find email enough of a technical challenge? Don’t worry, over the next 2 newsletters we plan to help you learn if Facebook is a suitable communication forum for you and if it is, how you can easily set up a profile and operate it.
Our very own Dawn Gold will describe in this article how she happened to begin using Facebook and why and what are the advantages of using Facebook as part of your crossdressing life. For many it is an indispensable tool for meeting new friends with the same interests and keeping in touch with them and all they are doing. It’s also a great place to store and show your photos.
Many CD’s think of Facebook as their main ‘home’ on the internet because you can do so much with it. It’s a great place where friends can leave you messages, look though your collection of photographs and also chat with you online. It’s one of the best ways to stay in contact with your friends and it’s invaluable for tracking down old friends you may not have heard from in ages.
Dawn will break down the different terms used on Facebook in next month’s article. In brief, the ‘Wall’ is the activity center of Facebook. Here you make comments on what you are doing, post photos and share articles and you too can see what all your friends are posting on their wall too. Not only is Facebook a fantastic place to let your friends know you were out at a CD club at the weekend but you can also include pictures of you strutting your stuff in your latest frock from your recent shopping spree!
In the July newsletter Dawn will explain step-by-step how to set up your very own Facebook page, how to download pictures and how to interact with others. Literally within minutes you will have your very own profile page and can begin to connect with other crossdressers. There are many girls out there using Facebook and it’s a great way to learn new tips and to find out what is going on out there in the wonderful world of all things CD/TG.
Dawn says:
“Maybe you feel like it’s time to get out of the closet and actually go out and start meeting and making new friends that share a common interest with you, but you’re not sure how to go about doing this. I can say from past experiences that having a Facebook account is a great way to meet people and make new friends.
I will tell you how to go about opening and playing with your new Facebook account in part two of this story next month, but for now…
It all started for me a little over a year ago when I met a friend of mine on craigslist when she was looking to move to NJ and wanted to find someone to share an apartment with her. We became friends and she invited me up to CT to go out to a club there that I had never been to before. Upon going to the club and meeting people there they were all surprised that I wasn’t on Facebook and were trying to talk me into signing up.
After my third trip up to the club I finally sat down and created my own Facebook page as I wanted a place to post my pics from the different outings I was going to and to be able to meet more great people and make some new friends along the way. It was the best thing I could have done. Now over a year later I have hundreds of new friends from all over the world that I share a common interest with. Many that I see out at clubs and gatherings every month. I would not have made these friendships had it not been for setting myself up with a Facebook account.
Having and using a Facebook account will definitely change your social life for the better if you use it properly and next month I will go into how to set yourself up with one and a lot of the things you can do with it. Until then….this is Dawn Gold of GlamourBoutique.com signing off.”
