Let’s start off by telling everyone where you are from
Hello! My name is Teresa Monsivais and I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Living in a city like Chicago, where there is a strong support for our LGBTQ community, has helped a lot in feeling more comfortable when I go out dressed. I was very self-conscious and nervous the first few times I went out but as I began to feel more comfortable with myself, my confidence grew. It has been my experience that most people in this lovely city have been very accepting.
When did you first start dressing and how did it come about?
I was always fascinated with high heels from an early age and remember putting on my mother’s heels when I was ten or eleven-years-old. The first time I fully dressed was for Halloween when I was a teen and from there on my desire to wear heels or anything feminine went dormant (aka repression). However, throughout those dormant years I remember being very attracted to women in heels, skirts and legs. I think it was more acceptable or “normal” for me to be attracted to versus wearing these items. But as many of us know, this does not go away and it sure did not go away for me. I began buying heels secretly and wearing them whenever I had the chance. It was when I was much older when I began to fully dress. With the help of my second wife who I was dating at the time, I dressed once again on Halloween. From that point on, I felt the desire to dress again and to do more things as a woman, like shopping!
How did you come up with your Femme name?
I never really gave it too much thought when I came up with my name. It was when my wife and I were out one night and we were going to meet up with some of her friends. Now I have been out with my wife numerous times prior to this but never with friends or any other company. So, in reality I did not even have a name or even think about having a name until that night when one of her friends asked me what my name was. I paused for a moment, and blurted out Teresa! My wife’s name is Thera, and I just piggy backed on this and said Teresa and from there on I became Teresa. I decided to add my paternal grandmother’s maiden name as I think it sounds sophisticated and Teresa Monsivais came to be.
How often do you dress?
I underdress every day and tend to wear women’s apparel pretty often, especially when I go to the gym. There are days where you will find me in leggings, skinny jeans made for women and even some tops while in boy mode. I enjoy wearing my knee-high boots (no heel) with leggings during boot season and all the gym shoes I have are from the women section. I try to fully dress once a week but certain responsibilities or family events can sometimes interfere with me dressing up.
Are you married/in a relationship? If yes, are you able to share your female self with your partner?
Yes, I am married to a wonderful woman who accepts me and all my femininity. When I began dating her I was upfront about wearing high heels. It was rather difficult for me to tell her but I knew she needed to know and I knew there was a possibility that she would not want to continue our relationship. When I told her, I love wearing high heels, she responded with “Great! I love wearing them too!” This was a relief for me and for the first time I did not feel ashamed for loving high heels. It progressed from wearing woman clothing to getting fully dressed. During my journey, my wife has been there by my side. She is a hairstylist and does make-up. She is my personal make-up artist and without her, Teresa does not exist. We are always together as we like to eat out and go shopping. We travel and attend events to support the LGBTQ community. We have different styles of fashion as she likes to be more conservative and I like to show a little skin. Having her in my life has allowed myself to become who I am today.
What are some of your favorite outfits/fashions?
I love mini-skirts, mini-dresses, tight fitted dresses or anything I can show off my legs. I like to wear sexy outfits to conservative ones. As of late, I have toned it down a bit as I get older but still make sure I wear my heels. Living in Chicago permits me to have many outfits for spring, summer, fall and winter. So, I have an array of outfits to fit any kind of weather. But my favorite outfits are the ones that allow me to show off my legs.
Stockings or pantyhose?
Stockings by far, although I started liking pantyhose when I first began dressing since it was more practical. But as of late, my interest in lingerie sparked my interest in garter belts and stockings. During winter I like to go with tights with a nice skirt and some ankle boot heels. But overall, I go with bare legs 85 percent of the time as I have the tendency to rip through my hosiery rather quickly. But I definitely love how they feel and look on my legs.
Heels or flats?
Heels all the way! This is how things got started for me. I usually go for three-inches and up. I recently bought some Devious Pleaser Heels that are six-inches that I will use for an upcoming photoshoot. I love all types of heels but the classic pump is the heel I never get enough of. I love stilettos, Slingback, Ankle strap, T-Strap, D’Orsay, Platform stilettos, Open toe, Gladiator high heel sandals, the list goes on and on. I definitely have some flats but they are hardly used and practically brand new.
Favorite places to go when dressed?
Outside of going to the annual Viva Wildside in Las Vegas, I love going to concerts, dancing, restaurants and shopping. There is nothing like dancing all night long in heels and a nice sexy dress.
Go to accessories for a night out?
This is an area I would like to get better at. Earrings, necklaces and rings are my go to accessories but I am still working on learning how to match accessories with outfits. I also need to add more to my collection. Luckily, I have my wife to help me with this.
Who are your female role model(s) and why?
I love Jennifer Lopez! I think she looks good for her age and how she takes care of herself. I love her sense of style and her curvaceous body. She has beautiful legs and I love her skin tone. The other female is Katie Perry! She looks great in just about anything and I find her to be a beautiful person both in and out.
Tell our readers some fun facts about yourself. Do you have any hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time, either when dressing or not?
I love to be active and enjoy my time in the gym as I work out my legs and glutes. When I am not in the gym or going out in heels, I love to work with wood. I love building furniture and learning new techniques in woodcraft. As of late, I am learning the fine art of mixing drinks to make fancy cocktails as I love to host family gatherings.
Any stories you would like to share about yourself and your journey?
We all have our stories and have had our share of tribulations. For many years I felt ashamed about myself and even tried to find out the root cause of why I loved wearing heels. I recall attending a support group for crossdressers. My wife and I attended the support group and remember the group being asked if we can take a pill for the crossdressing to go away would you take it? I remember how I did not hesitate to answer that I would take it. I wanted to be “normal” but that was not the problem. The problem was denying who I was in order to conform to what the majority thought was “normal”. Since then, I have accepted who I am and have embraced both my male and female side. I enjoy wearing both male and female clothing. I identify myself as gender fluid. For some people, having to manage both genders can become tiresome. I am happy being both and never felt that I was in the wrong body, I get to enjoy the best of both worlds.

I know this journey can be rather difficult for many of us as we often can feel lonely in all of this. Many people do not understand us and many are not willing to accept us. But who cares about what they want…be yourself! Embrace your feminine side and dress the way that makes you feel happy. Life is too short and you need to enjoy it and what better way to enjoy life than in heels and a nice looking dress!
