It can be daunting going into stores to browse for women’s clothing. Especially for new crossdressers. Asking for help from a store employee may not feel comfortable as someone new to going out en femme or even in their male clothes to find some femme clothing. But just shopping online for all of your girly clothes isn’t fun. Luckily, due to changing times, more and more brick and mortar stores have made the experience a lot easier. If you want to step away from online shopping and try before you buy, here are a mixture of clothing stores which will welcome people from every walk of life.
Lane Bryant
Lane Bryant specializes in plus size fashions which in many cases is a plus (pun intended) for our male bodies. Over the years we have been told by many of our customers that Lane Bryant is one of the most CD/TG friendly stores to shop at. Torrid is another plus size store with some more trendy fashions. Geared more toward a younger base, Torrid has a zero tolerance policy for their employees to discriminate against a Trans/CD shopper in their store. From what we have heard, the employees are more than happy to help you accesorize your outfits and even if you show up as your male self looking for femme fashions, Torrid has you covered. Macy’s
Macy’s is a big supporter of the LGBTQ community. Upon some research, we found Macy’s to have a full policy on transgender customers and employees which include details on bathroom and changing room usage (you may use the restroom/changing room of the gender you identify with). Macy’s is a great place since it is a department store, you can get more than just dresses or clothing. Accessories, shoes, jewelry, and makeup are all available here and no matter the department, you will find the help you need. A bonus is that you can find a lot of designer clothes at Macy’s so you can really glam it up if your budget allows. (https://www.macys.com/)
Victoria’s Secret
Looking for some sexy lingerie? Some really cute bra and panties sets? Well look no further than the leader in that world. From what we understand is that the employees are trained in working with CD/TG girls, so when you go to the store, don’t be shy asking for help with sizing whether dressed en femme or not. Sephora
A girl needs her makeup and perfumes and what better place for these things than Sephora. Sephora offers more than just great makeup, they have makeup classes and makeovers geared toward the trans community. Called Bold Beauty for the Transgender Community and Workforce, you can book a one on one session and learn about things like skin care and makeup applications. And the best part? Target
Target has been an ally for quite some time. In fact, they got a lot of pushback for their inclusive bathroom policy when it first began. Their website still displays their inclusive policy. What’s great about Target is they have a large selection of various feminine items, from clothes to makeup to underwear and everything in between and at more affordable prices. We all know how easy it is to show up at Target and walk away with hundreds of dollars in merchandise when you were just going there for a toothbrush, but why the heck not. Treat yourself!
