In only it’s second year, the Newcomer category is a huge hit! Almost half our entries this year were Newcomers. It’s exciting for not only the future of the Glamour Girl Contest but to see all these fresh faces as well. This year, one fresh face stood out amongst the rest. Let’s say hello and congratulations to our Newcomer Champion, Jewels Smith.
Hi Jewels. Congratulations on your big win! Tell us, how does it feel to be named this year’s Newcomer winner?
It feels amazing to be this year’s Glamour Boutique Newcomer winner. I’d like to thank all the fellow girls, fans and judges that voted for me and all the other contestants that inspire me to look my best each time I dress.
Tell us how you go about choosing the outfits for your contest photos and how you choose which photos to submit?
My outfit selection for the photos I submitted for the Glamour Boutique contest was a tough decision. My favorite look is a mini dress, pantyhose/stockings and high heels. My pink evening dress with pearls and tan stockings all came together for an amazing picture and I was so happy that the fans and judges thought the same. The photos I chose for the contest had to show my makeup, great smile, amazing body posture and great eye contact.
Let’s get to our Eye Candy questions. Let’s start by letting everyone know where you are from?
I’m a Detroit girl born and raised.
When did you first start dressing and how did it come about?
I started dressing fully a few years ago. I love femininity and trying my best to emulate women and trans girls that I admire. Learning makeup was the biggest challenge when I first started dressing up. Watching Youtube makeup tutorials and practice allowed me to perfect my look.
How did you come up with your Femme name?
“Jewels” is a combination of the American singer Jewel and my love of diamonds. I decided to add an “s” to the end of Jewel to stand out and make my name unique. The name has matched my personality perfectly and never dream of changing it.
How often do you dress?
I dress a few times a week. Weekdays to work on my makeup and photoshoot at home. Weekends to go to the local bars and clubs with my girlfriends! I like to always be fully shaved and have smooth legs to wear pantyhose and a bra around the house. I also attend the annual Wild Side and Rocktober events in Las Vegas, if you see me next time, stop by and say hello!
Are you married/in a relationship? If yes, are you able to share your female self with your partner?
I am single and ready to mingle!
What are some of your favorite outfits/fashions?
I love wearing a “little black dress”, black sheer pantyhose, and high heels. My hair color is between blonde and brunette, depending on my outfit. Love rocking a blonde wig with lighter color outfits and wearing my brunette wig with darker color outfits. I love Dita Von Teese fashion of burlesque and 20’s flapper girl/pin up girl. She inspired me to wear that type of outfit.
Stockings or pantyhose?
Both. Pantyhose are my first love but I have incorporated wearing stockings with certain outfits to expand my look and fashion. Tip for all the ladies, stockings are great for the ladies room and less items to pull down. Pantyhose/tights are great for a cold winter’s day in the North! My favorite color of pantyhose is a 20 den black, I feel it can be matched with almost any outfit.
Heels or flats?
I love wearing high heels and have quite the collection in my walk-in closet. My favorite pair of high heels are my 4 in black patent pumps. I have also started wearing bootie high heels when I wear tights in the Detroit winters. I have worked on my walk in heels and practice walking with a book on my head to perfect my feminine walk. Tips for the girls out there, wear flats when walking long distances, it will save your feet the next morning.
Favorite places to go when dressed?
I love to go to the local Detroit bars and clubs. Dancing with my girlfriends and chatting with great music on the jukebox is always a fun night. Also, I visit Las Vegas a few times a year for the Wild Side and Rocktober events. You can find me at the slot machines and table games in my mini-dress, pantyhose and high heels.
Go to accessories for a night out
I love wearing long eyelashes, earrings and bracelets. I love to pair my collection of accessories with my outfit to complete my look. Also love to wear a belt with some of my dresses that adds that special something to my look. Accessories are a girl’s best friend!
Who is/are your female role model(s) and why?
Dita Von Teese and Fran Drescher are my female role models. Ditta brings out the beauty of femininity with her lingerie, stockings, and amazing outfits. I grew up watching Fran on the television show The Nanny and loved her mini dresses and high heels that she wore.
Tell us some fun facts about yourself. What are your hobbies (either when dressed or not), likes, things you do in your spare time, or anything else you would like to share?
I love to shop and find dresses, heels and accessories to wear together for a night out. I also love to cook and eat healthy. I have a garden on my patio and love to harvest home grown veggies to eat for dinner. I also love to stay in shape by running and riding my bike on local trails.
Any stories you would like to share about yourself and your journey?
My first time in public as Jewels was in Las Vegas at the 2019 Wild Side. I had amazing Wild Side big sisters that came to my hotel room and helped me get ready. I was so nervous to go outside the hotel room and my Wild Side big sisters pushed my booty outside the door. When the elevator door opened to the casino floor it was such a rush and I was working my walk in my high heels and mini-dress with all eyes on me!

Let’s go back to the contest for a minute. What advice would you give girls entering the contest next year?
Practice makes perfect when it comes to makeup and getting your look down for pictures. Keep working on your look and find someone that inspires you to look your best and the magic will come out in the camera.
