Something that is becoming more and more popular in the crossdressing world are makeovers. While many CD’s will do their own makeup 99% of the time, every once in a while they will sit down with a makeup artist and really go all out with their transformation to femme mode. Others seek out makeovers to get a better feel for the application process so when they are doing their own makeup at home they can apply what they’ve learned during their session. We have always suggested getting at least one makeover just so you can see what is possible. Let’s take a look at the difference a makeover can make.
Crossdresser makeovers
Eye/Facelift
When applying your own makeup, there are certain parts of the process that you may not do due to either time constraints, fear of messing up or maybe you just can’t get it right no matter how many times you try. The eye/facelift tape application is definitely one of those. While at a makeover, most makeup artists will start here before actually applying any makeup. The eye/facelift tape when applied correctly will give your brow a more feminine shape and give you a good base to work off of when getting ready to work on your eyebrows.
Eyebrows
Another missed opportunity when doing your own makeup vs having a makeover builds off of the above. Eyebrows can be tricky to get just right. If you go too far plucking or waxing, it will become very noticeable to those around you when in guy mode. Mastering getting feminine shaped eyebrows can take some time to get right. A makeover will get those brows looking perfectly shaped by the time your session is over.
Contouring
If there is any part of the makeup process that is both crucial and extremely hard to master on your own, it is contouring. We recently posted an article to help out with contouring, but even with guidelines it can be difficult to get that perfect facial shape. With a makeup artist, they know exactly how to shape your face in a way that will have you looking in the mirror in awe of how feminine you can look.
Wigs
Does your wig look like it has been tossed around and left out on the curb? Do you struggle with styling your wig or don’t even know where to begin? Most makeup artists have experience in wig care and styling and can usually bring your wig back to life. If you can’t get that wig styled the way you want, a makeover is the perfect opportunity to finally get your wig looking sleek and stylish.
Makeup Products
The list of products that you need to get your makeup application looking top notch is pretty long. From cream based foundations to beard cover to setting powder and the previously mentioned eye/facelift tape, it just goes on and on. This doesn’t even scratch the surface as you still need makeup for contouring, eyeshadows, blush, etc. Plus, most girls will purchase makeup not really knowing the quality or even exactly what colors will work for their face and complexion.
A makeup artist will usually have higher quality makeup that will also add to your overall look as well as knowing exactly which colors will work with your face to bring out that lovely lady that’s inside.
Lessons
A huge bonus when receiving a makeover is the valuable advice you can get from the makeup artist. They can walk you through any of the steps they are doing that you can then try on your own. You can also see which makeup brands they are using as well as the color combinations that work best with your face. The tips on contouring alone is worth the price of the makeover.
Makeovers can really give you a totally different feminine look than what you are used to doing on your own. With a trained professional who has had experience working on M to F transformations, you will be amazed at what is possible. We highly recommend having at least one makeover at some point if for nothing else than the valuable information you can receive.
