These Mary Jane Heel shoes are another variation on the traditional Mary Jane. Whilst they come in the easily recognizable black patent and have a cross strap with chrome fastener they vary from a traditional ‘MJ’ in that they have a three-inch block heel (rather than being flat) and a pointed rather than a broad round toe. This tends to give them a more attractive and adult appeal.

The traditional Mary Jane shoes have been around since the 1930s and ’40s and have always been a much-loved staple for young girls and even boys in their kindergarten and toddler school age. Marked out by their distinctive design of a low cut, closed-back shoe with a cross-strap fastened by buckle or button. Being worn by schoolgirls they are often associated with pairing with pantyhose or ankle socks and sometimes ankle socks with a pretty frill.
Even in their various adult incarnations like these Mary Jane Heel shoes, they are usually a good practical shoe for walking since the have the cross-strap which anchors the shoe to the foot and most heels are of a chunky type rather than a thin stiletto. Work well when worn with any plaid or schoolgirl skirt with a little blouse and much loved by sissy-maids.
