As a leader in our community, we also make sure we can offer help to both long time girls and those that are new and trying to learn the ropes. If you are a newcomer, we know that crossdressing tips are essential to help you feel confident and comfortable when you’re out dressed. We’ve gathered some crossdressing secrets from both our staff and some of our great friends from all over the community. Let’s get right to it.

Essential Items to Crossdress Properly

If you are new to crossdressing or have been doing so for a while but feel you may want to take things up a notch, we should make sure that you have certain essentials to get you that femme look you desire. Here are our suggestions.

A Great Wig

No femme closet should be without a good wig. A good wig will really hold your look together and really make you feel like your femme self is looking back at you in the mirror. Play with different styles and colors until you find what feels right for you.

A Sexy, Classy LBD

Every wardrobe should include a Little Black Dress as it is one of the most versatile dresses you could have. Keep a few more dresses handy so that you are ready for just about any occasion.

A Waist Cincher, Gaff and Fabulous Pair of Heels

If you are trying to get those perfect female curves, there are quite a few items to help you along the way. A waist cincher can help give you an hourglass shape while a padded panty or some hip pads will give you more booty and those hips to die for. While you’re down there, make sure to include a gaff to keep everything up front nice and flat. As we continue to move down your body, let’s add some sexy heels. If you are new to heels, we always recommend a shorter heel. Never go for the 6 incher right away. Start out with a two to three inch heel and get used to it and then gradually move up. Before you know it, you’ll have a whole closet full of heels!

Breast Forms

Breast forms are totally up to you. Some girls decide not to use forms, which is totally fine. Just be sure if you do try breast forms to not go too large right away. Breastplates are another great option if you are looking for realistic cleavage.

Makeup and Accessories

Lastly, you will need makeup. If any part of crossdressing is trial and error or something that takes time and effort, it is makeup. Just be patient and experiment until you figure it out. You can always try makeover services as well as the makeup artists can give you a lot of tips while steering you in the right direction to have your face looking femme and fabulous.

Once you have all the essentials, you should add some accessories to finalize your look. Earrings, necklaces, etc will give you that little extra and complete the femme you.

Crossdressing Secrets to Help you Feel Fabulous

Now that we have you sorted out with some great essential items, let’s get some advice from some of our friends, who’s tips will give you more confidence along your way.

Nikki Hunter (Sexy Legs Champion 2018 & Glamour Girl Finalist)

The thing about being trans, gender fluid or a cross dresser is that we all have a fundamental need to be on the outside who we know to be on the inside. Dressing up en femme is not just about putting on what the world sees as a costume. It is about expressing on the outside what we feel like on the inside. This can be a challenge for a lot of girls. Perhaps even around the closest of family, friends and co-workers we cannot always show ourselves on the outside as the true inside person.

When we can go all out and grab some of the great looks and offerings from our friends at Glamour Boutique, it can be a magical time. Heels, stockings, a dress that compliments or that favorite wig can all be parts of the equation to bring out the girl you know you are. I personally like an above the knee dress or skirt complimented by a pair of quality stockings and garters accentuated by a classy pair of stiletto heels. After winning the 2018 Sexy Legs contest, and receiving my goody bag of spoils in the form of some of the best quality hosiery, I had an epiphany that the feeling of silky nylons against my skin is one of the most important parts of feeling fabulous En Femme.

In these days of Covid, many of us are working from home… for months. It feels quite scandalous going all out and wearing that not so work appropriate skirt that doesn’t do a good job of hiding your stocking tops while your feet are posed in sky high heels even as you are talking to your colleagues during a conference call (no video, LOL). If you’re not able to be open and femme in public, take advantage of this time! Be pretty, be sexy, be daring and let that girl inside you come out! What about those times when you cannot be in full on girl mode? It’s an easy solution. Hugh Hefner said that all the Playboy centerfolds would have an essence of a man in the photo whether it be a cigar, a man’s watch or some other article that pronounced a man’s presence in the room. My advice is along the same lines, only let’s call it the essence of a woman. Wear something or project something that brings out the female side of you. For me personally this can be simple things like, wearing my favorite leggings, silky panties or my favorite lacy bra. If you can go further, grab your heels, let your hair down or even wear some of your favorite jewelry. You don’t have to be 100% femme to be 100% woman.

Feeling fabulous is about feeling like who you are. It’s not about getting anyone’s approval or changing anyone’s mind. It’s about being who you are inside.

Hi Ladies! Enjoy your new journey, as it will be full of many fun surprises. From twirling in your dress or skirt, to showing off some nice cleavage, to wearing fun accessories and nylons. It’s all there, just waiting for you to be happy!

The transformation is amazing. Don’t worry about removing the makeup at night’s end because you know there’s always the next time just around the corner!

Matching your nail polish and lipstick to the color you’re wearing is always fun. My advice is to put some money into your wig – that can “make or break” the experience, so get one that is flattering to your face and is realistic.

And have lots of photos taken! You’ll want to share them, I promise you! That continues the “high” for a long time to come.
Congratulations on making this move, and have a great time!!

Looking and feeling feminine starts with what is underneath the dress. Satin, silk, or lace bra and panties (my preference is for thong panties) combined with a garter belt and stockings are the ultimate in femininity. The addition of a corset really helps accentuate curves to give that wonderfully womanly hourglass figure. Once those feminine prerequisites are on, stiletto heels are a must in looking feminine! 5-inch heels are my go-to height because they just really bring out the feminine shape; legs look longer, butt looks rounder, and there is that very sexy way high heels make you walk and carry yourself. Feeling feminine in your underthings and heels makes your choice of outerwear that much easier and more rewarding. Wearing a sexy form fitting dress or a blouse with an above-the-knee skirt is the icing and cherry on top! Just remember, wear clothes and heels that fit properly so that you can present your best feminine self.

Another very important consideration to feeling and looking feminine is to eat healthy and exercise. Cutting out most carbs (especially sugar), controlling portion sizes, and eating more fruits and vegetables will help with looking and feeling your best. Exercise is extremely important in keeping a lean healthy body. As genetic males, lots of weight training will bulk up our muscles, which is not the typical feminine look. So, lots of cardio and targeted exercises for things you want to improve upon would be my advice.

For example, I have been targeting my tummy and booty. Lots of abdominal exercises to reduce my waistline and booty exercises to make my butt rounder and give it more lift. Feeling good within always projects confidence which is oh so important when we are showcasing our better feminine selves.

Feeling Fabulous when dressing. Oh my! Have I had some trials with that. What it comes down to is not feeling awkward or embarrassed to be revealing your true self!

For me, I have a process that helps me transition from the drab male form I have to put on everyday to becoming my reaal fabulous self! This process takes me 3 hours when rushed, although I can do it in 1-hour if an emergency, and can take all day. It depends on the situation – meaning, if I am going to be alone to indulge or if I only have a set number of hours to transform and then transform back.

So the 3-hour version starts with a hot bubble bath. Soaking in bubbles, oils and scents with music playing in the BG. Oh it is soo lovely. After a bit of relaxation, eyes closed imagining what my life would be like if I were a woman, I began to get down to business: Shaving. It should be noted that shaving after and in this bath makes it so easier, smoother and softer.

Then drying off, towel wrapped around my torso (like a woman) and around my hair too! It’s just fun! Then moisturizer! All through this I am beginning to slip into the “mode”. To imagine what I will look like in my fantasies. And throughout the entire process that follows I am reaching for that image, comparing it to what I am seeing in the mirror and then adjusting.

It is important to NEVER look at the full picture until the transformation is complete. There are a number of reasons for this, the prime reason being to save the “Big Reveal” until you are “Her.” The other reasons have to do with not finding ways to tell yourself that you are a weirdo, a freak, and my personal favorite, “Who do you think you are fooling? You’re just a guy in a dress and everyone will always see that!”

So as you prepare you focus on the individuals – base makeup – focus on even coverage and making sure it covers what you want covered. Eyes, shadow, liner and don’t forget to shape the brows! Lips! Good steady application and lines that are smooth. Finally hair, make sure it suits you and falls correctly to hide the wig-tales.

Then I do my nails! Toes and fingers! Focusing on doing that right – it’s hard!! And while drying I pick out outfits…

When dressed, with stockings, heels, and jewelry – ONLY THEN DO I LOOK AT THE FULL PICTURE. And that “Big Reveal” always stuns and brings such a flood of joy to my heart.
After that, nothing can go wrong because I am in the mode and I am a real expression of my real self! I become flooded with relaxation, warm glowing feelings and so much more.
Dressing is the cure to what ails you and so much more!

Carollyn Olson (Glamour Girl Contest Grand Champion)

Confidence remains the key to cross-dressing, no matter what age you are. Being older, I have found an even greater desire to be out in public, even though I never was “closeted” or afraid to get out and do things when I was younger. I always felt that “if I worked so hard to get dressed, why wouldn’t I go out and enjoy myself.”

Being an older crossdresser, we have also developed a number of relationships with other “girls” who have become confidants and dear friends from around the world.

When I was younger, I felt so alone and prayed to find cross-dressing friends. Obviously, when and as the internet developed, it paid a big part in opening the world to cross-dressers, and thank God it did.
I was a late bloomer when it came to cross-dressing, starting at age 32. When I started, the internet was non-existent and Payless Shoes didn’t carry women’s shoes over size 10. Now, at age 73, so many things have changed and there are so many opportunities for young crossdressers to develop into “the woman they want to be” at an earlier age. And, for the older crossdressers, we now have the chance to continue refining ourselves.

A friend of mine once told me “when you go to sleep at night and if you haven’t learned something during the day, the day is not worth living.” That’s why I take advantage every day to learn something to enhance my ability to age slowly and continue to enjoy being out and about as an accepted cross-dresser.
