Eye Candy Girl feature: Shannon

Shannon, our eye candy winner a year later

Here we are, girls. One year later. When we decided to start up our Eye Candy features again last summer, we had no idea the reception it would receive. From the number of readers to all the amazing comments, to all of you that have volunteered! We would like to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. Your support has been nothing short of amazing. When the time came to choose an anniversary girl, we wanted to ask someone who herself has been such a big supporter of Glamour Boutique over the years and a dear friend, Shannon.

Hi Shannon. Thanks so much for being our Anniversary Eye Candy Girl this month. Let’s start off by telling everyone where you are from?

I’m from Los Angeles, California, and have lived here all my life. I love L.A., and all it’s got to offer. And, we have West Hollywood – what’s not to love?

When did you first start dressing and how did it come about?
I started late — when I was 28 years old! My employer had an office Halloween party and contest, and I decided to show myself as a woman. People were stunned, as was I! At that point, I knew I had tapped into some deep need – this merely brought it to the surface. It followed with going to Trans clubs and then understanding that it’s really a part of me. It’s when I feel the happiest and most feminine.

How did you come up with your Femme name?
Shannon has been my favorite name since I was a child. When I created my femme name, it was obvious that Shannon would be the one! Here’s a sweet moment: at the time I bought my present wig, my makeup artist asked me what we should call it – I said, “Shannon.” After my makeup was finished being applied, she placed the wig on me and said, “Hello, Shannon.” That was the first time (an emotional one!) that anyone called me this name.

How often do you dress?
I’d say about once a month. The energy, time, and expense limit me to that, unfortunately. Those days and evenings, I can truly be myself. The transformation is complete.

Are you married/in a relationship? If yes, are you able to share your female self with your partner?
I am married. Fortunately, my wife is fine with this. She even goes shopping with me to purchase outfits and accessories! And she accompanies me to events and has almost as much fun as I do!

What are some of your favorite outfits/fashions?
I love the frilly stuff. I love to twirl, so I want my dresses to fly. The “girlier,” the better. I also have nice cleavage now, so I enjoy wearing low cut tops – only the classy ones!

Stockings or pantyhose?
Both, depending on my mood. I love showing some leg, so stockings will often win out! But when I don’t want the worries about them slipping down, pantyhose work quite nicely. In those instances, I try to limit my water intake!!

Heels or flats?
I generally don’t wear heels – I know, shame on me. But I figure that my comfort is worth something! Also, I wish to keep my height to a minimum.

Favorite places to go when dressed?
West Hollywood, for sure! I also enjoy going to nice restaurants, hearing the waiter ask, “What would you like, Miss?” Funny story: My wife and I went to a restaurant once when I was dressed, and they had known me nondressed for many years – this was a real surprise to them. When the waiter brought the food, he immediately put my plate down and announced, “Ladies first!” I also love spending time at Trans clubs when dressed!!

Go to accessories for a night out
Beautiful earrings, a necklace, and bracelets, all catered to my dress and the night’s occasion. Love that!

Who is/are your female role model(s) and why?
Caitlyn Jenner, for bringing Trans issues to the public’s attention. I had some friends who could not understand me but were willing to read and watch her story to better learn why I am the way I am.

Tell us some fun facts. Do you have any hobbies (either when dressed or not), likes, things you do in your spare time or anything else you would like to share about yourself?
I enjoy reading, playing Sudoku puzzles, and other various hobbies. I also enjoy animals very much and love playing with other people’s pets.

Any stories you would like to share about yourself and your journey?
One day, after having had a beautiful Shannon night the previous evening, I was in a shopping mall parking lot – no longer dressed up. A lady walked by, and I said to myself, “She has no clue that I’m in costume.” It was an epiphany. I hadn’t realized, until that very moment, that wearing male clothes was the costume! The “real me” is when I’m dressed. That was incredible to learn!

If you have social media, what is the best way for others to follow you?
Sorry, I don’t.

If you would like to send a message out there to your fellow girls or a closing statement.
First of all, I’m so honored to be an Anniversary Eye Candy girl! Such a thrill to be featured in Glamour Boutique’s special issue! Glamour Boutique has meant a lot to me over the years, and your merchandise is glorious. Shapeshifting to produce head turns and inner joy and happiness – LOVE IT!!!!

My message: Enjoy these moments, ladies! Even if you get nervous before going out in public, it will be worth it, I promise you! The sense of freedom that you feel simply being yourself, there are no words to describe it. Just get out there and realize your dream!

Well said! Thanks so much Shannon! We are sure our readers have enjoyed hearing all about you as much as we have.
