One of the biggest challenges we face when dressing up in our beautiful best is hiding that bothersome 5 o’clock shadow. Don’t stress yourself out or think that putting on a ton of cover-up will do the trick. There is a fine line between hiding that stubble and caking on makeup which will make matters worse. To help all of you girls out there having issues, we would like to offer some basic tips on how to hide stubble with makeup, in order to give you the best look possible.
Before getting started with the makeup side of the cover-up, open up your pores with a nice warm towel. You can also get yourself a hot shave or a steamy bath as both will allow the same effect. Another way to help your pores and the smoothness of your face is by exfoliating and moisturizing your face regularly. These few basic steps will have your face feeling fresh and smooth.
This is such an important step as men’s pores are larger than women’s and tend to cause more issues in the makeup process.

Neutralizer to cover up stubble
To get things started, use a quality neutralizer that works best for your skin color. This is the start of the blending process so don’t be worried if your face starts out looking a little orange or pink.
Using a small makeup brush, start with a light layer of the beard cover. Think of this step as similar to when you paint a room and need a primer to get the wall ready for the main coat of color.
Foundation
The foundation is an important step in the process to cover up your beard stubble. With that being said, don’t overdo it when applying. Choose something in the line of a medium coverage foundation as opposed to heavy coverage and apply several thin layers that you can disperse evenly.
Using a foundation brush is the best way to go for the application. Give the foundation a little bit of time to dry and then determine if the shade you are looking to achieve is correct. If you feel you need a little more, just add a few specks and continue to brush in.
We suggest a creme base foundation as it will give you the coverage you need, while liquid foundations tend to leave you with a caked-on look due to having to apply a lot more for the same effect the creme foundation can do in less.
A quick Glamour Boutique tip: If dressing for daytime, it’s best to choose a foundation as close to your skin tone as possible. If going out at night, you may want to go a single tone darker for a nice healthy glow, but remember to blend properly and blend down your neck too to avoid any foundation lines.
Setting Powder
The final step when using makeup to cover stubble is the setting powder which will help keep your face and makeup dry in even the hottest situations. Apply the powder generously with a large powder puff. For the more skilled, you can use a large powder brush for the same effect. If you are new to the application process, we suggest the powder puff. Try not to stroke the powder as it can streak the foundation. Once everything is dry, you can gently brush off any excess powder.
We do suggest taking a powder foundation (compact) in your handbag for some touch-ups throughout the night depending on your situation.
With these few steps, you will be able to go out for a night on the town and not have to worry about any stubble issues and knowing that you will look and feel beautiful.
