A Beginners Guide to Applying False Eyelashes

A Beginners Guide to Applying False Eyelashes

False eyelashes can always add to a look. Whether you are looking for a little extra length or you want to bring on a more dramatic look to accompany your eye makeup, false eyelashes are a great add on. If you’re a party girl, there’s a huge array of colors to choose from to really enhance your look, while a pair of bold black eyelashes are great for that finishing touch.
Not everyone is blessed with long eyelashes so the need to find a good pair of false eyelashes is something many girls find themselves having to do. After you find the right pair, your next issue will be how to apply false eyelashes. Now we know applying false eyelashes can be tricky and sometimes frustrating, so we put together this guide to help our girls out.

Choose Your Favorite Lashes

Your first step is to pick out a pair of eyelashes that suits you. Now, this is the fun and exciting part, as you can go in so many different directions. You can go from light and feathery lashes to total glitz and glam. Some girls choose to go more subdued and stick to black lashes, while others want to really go all out and pick those extra-long colorful lashes. At the end of the day it really depends on the person and the look they want for themselves. Our suggestion is to always have a black pair on hand but to also experiment a little bit and find a glamourous colorful pair that will bring out your wild side. For girls that do drag shows, a colorful pair of party lashes are a must! Once you find a pair of eyelashes that you love, you will be on your way.

>h2>Cut to Size

Once you have your lashes, the next step is to cut them to fit your eyes. Everyone’s eyes are different, so it’s important to make sure the lashes are cut to the right length for you. We would suggest buying a pair of inexpensive lashes to practice with until you feel comfortable. You don’t want to buy an amazing pair of expensive lashes only to butcher them by accident while cutting them to fit your eyes.

Once you carefully remove the lashes from their container, hold them up to your eyelid to get a proper measurement. Once you find that sweet spot, take the lashes away from your eye to trim them (we want to make sure no one trims the lashes near their eye as that would be really bad). Always trim from the outer edge of the lashes and always cut them from the vein and not upwards as the lashes themselves can wind up getting cut. You can save the excess pieces if you want to use them for layering or to add to your look with outer corner lashes (this would be for a little more experienced applications).

Apply the Glue

Once your lashes are cut to size, it’s time to apply the glue. Use the applicator that comes with your glue and apply a thin layer along the vein of the lashes from corner to corner. Let the glue set for about 30 seconds letting it get tacky. This is very important because if the glue is still too wet when you apply the lashes, it won’t set right. Make sure not to blow on the glue to try and get it tacky quicker as this is unsanitary and could cause an issue.

Applying the Lashes

Once the glue is tacky, take a tweezer or your fingers and carefully apply the lashes starting at the middle of the strip at the center of your eye at the lid. Make sure to do this with your eye open as when it’s closed, your eyelid is a different shape. If you have shaky hands you can also hold the false eyelash with an eyelash curler and then apply. Try to stay as close to the eyelash line as possible. Press the rest of the lash down on both the outer edge and inner corner. Use your tweezers or fingers to make adjustments as necessary. Once you have them placed in the right spot, give them a soft squeeze as this will help bond the false lashes to your natural ones leaving them looking natural. We suggest using some mascara to help blend everything together. If you’d like a little more uplift, gently push against the lashes at the edge of your inner lash line.

And that’s it! It might seem intimidating at first, but if you follow our guide you will have much success and totally up your eye game. False eyelashes can really bring out your eyes and help add definition. If your eyes are looking spectacular it will really enhance your look while en femme. Now go give it a try and let everyone see those beautiful eyes!
