SPRING TRENDS – A NEW SEASON, A NEW YOU…
If you live in the North East of the United States then after major snow falls and more recently the worst floods in 25 years making many folk homeless, then you are really looking forward to Spring Time now that it has officially arrived. Spring is undoubtedly a very pleasing time of year for most of us as the cold dark nights give way to more temperate and longer days with the chance to get out more. It's also a new season for fashion and an ideal time to review your current wardrobe; maybe it's time to re-plan how you dress, not just for the season's but for the whole year.
We are strong believer's in mix and matching some classic styles that you should have in your gurl's wardrobe selection and dressing them up with some of the latest trends in accessories, different hair color and makeup. That way, you can create many different looks from a few essential garments. So what are the trends to look out for this Spring and more importantly what will work?
Sheer Fabrics: With the onset of the warmer climate that Spring and then Summer brings, dress tends to become a little more revealing. As well as the practical aspect of dealing with the increased temperature it also affords any gurl the chance to show off her best assets. This Spring and Summer see-through, light fabric is definitely in. A simple Chiffon Tailored Shirt can be dressed up with classic short skirt or for smart/casual, pair it with a pair of faded jeans. Better yet, simply wear it in the bedroom for some boudoir fun to help keep you cool whilst those around melt at the site of you. Whether dressing in or out, sheer tops or tops and dresses with sheer long-sleeves are definitely in this season.
Bright Red Lips: Back this Spring/Summer - the timeless, classic look, that is both elegant and versatile once you know how to apply it correctly. Follow these hints and you can’t go wrong:
- Day or Night Wear - Choose softer shades for outside daytime wear but when dressing at night vamp it up with bolder and richer shades.
- Thin Lip Syndrome – Avoid the darker reds as this will only exaggerate thin lips.
- Eye Shade – When using red lipstick, a contrast is needed with the eyes – lighter eye shading looks best with red lips rather than, for example, darker, smokey-eyes.
- Blush Co-ordinate - Rather than trying to match a blush to the exact tone of lipstick, simply dab a little of the lipstick on the apple of each cheek and blend in.

A World of White: From blouses, shirts and skirts to corsets, white and cream are BIG this Spring and Summer. Many of the major ladies fashion houses kicked off their Spring Fashion Shows with sections of all white or cream in their collections. Maybe not the first choice for many of our gurl’s as a whole dress or outfit but again, pair a sexy classic black skirt with a flowing and layered white top and you have an outstanding look. A White Corset over a darker blouse or shirt not only gives a fashionable look but gives you that much needed hour-glass figure silhouette.
Chandelier Earrings: The return of Chandelier Earrings this Spring/Summer as a fashion staple to any gurl’s wardrobe means the return of an instant glamorous and more feminine look when paired with any outfit. When it comes to Clip-on Crystal Chandelier Earrings, more is more especially when dressing at night. If you are going to do it, do it right and wear the biggest and brightest chandelier earrings you can find, especially if you are wearing shoulder length hair or longer.
Remember to match or contrast with other accessories to complete your ‘look’. Clutch bags, belts, bracelets and rings should always be considered too – it’s the little details that bring the total look together.
Pink Accessories: Different shades of Pink make a return this Spring/Summer especially for shoes, nails and accessories. A perennial spring color, pink can work better for gurl’s who may appear a little ‘washed out’ if they wear too much white as a result of being lighter skin toned. Consider the main pieces of an outfit you plan to wear before looking to accessorize with pink. Will a pair of pink pumps go well with your red top and deep red lipstick? Choice in finding a good contrast is essential; matching pink shoes, clutch bag and belt does not mean you need to match with the exact shade of lipstick and nails but it should be in the same pallet of shades.
Hair Colors for the Spring/Summer: Spring is the beginning of the dressing season for many gurls and it’s an ideal time to start adding new shades and styles to your hair collection. This season, rich bold colors are very much back in vogue with cheery colors light auburn and butterscotch very much leading the way. Whilst Platinum and even warmer shades of Blond are still very popular for this season, redheads and auburns are very much the new bombshell this year. Hair Colors to consider this Spring/Summer:
- Peroxide Blond or very light blonds are very striking this summer.
- Golden Blondes like Butterscotch are even more popular this season. More natural in tone than the whiter peroxide shades, the golden blonds are rich and less extreme than a light blond.
- Red hair and Auburn is definitely the color this Spring and Summer. Because redheads are rarer there is even a sense of exclusivity to be had whilst wearing this color. From fiery celts to some of Hollywood’s sexy sirens, redheads are always sure to have fun in their life.
Not to be left out, Black and Dark Brown will also continue to feature this season but with highlights or undertones by way of contrast. The Patchy Wig with it’s dark colors mixed with lighter highlights and undertones continues to be our top selling longer length wig of the last 12 months and will continue to be a star-performer this season.
So this season try something a little different without straying too far from your natural or comfortable color. A good wig with the correct color when applied to a well made-up face can totally transform any gurl into a sex-kitten so have fun with it.
Long Eyelashes: These are really taking off this season. In-fact one of the latest fads to hit the West Coast this year are ‘Permanent’ False Lashes which are applied a strand at a time and last for up to 2 weeks. Whilst most gurl’s don’t have the luxury of wearing longer lashes in their daytime guise, the regular ‘falsies’ are a relatively cheap and easy effect to add depth and dimension to your own lashes and they definitely create a wow factor.
So there you have it – the leading trends for this Spring and Summer and whilst we never like to think we are slaves to fashion, if you incorporate just some of these easy and relatively cheap trends when matching with your Little Black Dress or classic skirt and top then you will freshen up your look and definitely have that wow factor.
