BREAST FORMS ON A BUDGET, PART 2

Thank-you to all the readers who responded to the first article on home-made breast forms that was published last month. We never realized how many use or have attempted to make their own breast forms. We have been intrigued by some of the ingenuity used to find the perfect budget form and amazed at some of the more intricate processes which seem to require a science degree and much time! As we previously thought, the 2 most popular methods to seem to the seed method (flax, bird, craft store etc) and water balloons though with variations on filler and even on the outer casing – who knew there were so many different types of balloons?

An interesting observation from the responses is the number of folk using traditional silicone breast forms for their day wear and home-made seed-filled boobs for their night wearing. At least 2 respondents that do this reported that they felt safer using the home-mades during sleep-time rather than risk damaging their expensive silicone sisters. One respondent (thank-you Bobbi) burst her first ever set of silicones by sleeping on them and said ever since that day has only used silicone for daytime wear. Whilst the manufacturers discourage wearing silicone forms during the night as they say it will shorten the life, this is the first time we have heard of an actual breakage whilst sleeping with them.

A note of caution was raised by one reader to say if experimenting with any gels, silicone products intended for building etc that you should always beware of the chemical contents. Substances do leach through plastic/rubber containers and you should be aware of, for example cancer causing products if you wear thenm for extended periods of time. Again, when using any filler that may be toxic make sure you dress appropriately when making your forms.

Long before I could afford breast forms, I was working for a florist and there was a crystal product (turns into a gel when water is added) that retains water when mixed with the dirt to keep the plants drying when watering wasn't available everyday. One packet could make two breast forms, regardless of size, just by adding water to the desired size. The gel absorbed the water and gave a very realistic feel (unlike seeds, rice and just plain water) and weight to the inexpensive breasts. When worn, the breasts warmed up to the body temperature and with the natural feel and warmth, it was really hard to believe they weren't real (my girlfriend was jealous until I made some 'enhancers' to fill out her bras...she even went so far to buy a larger size). While I have purchased several forms, I found I was uncomfortable with anything more than maybe a C- cup size, and gave them away. I am intersexed, and lived as guy with breasts, from 1958 until 2005, when I finally decided to live as ME, Holly. I was never more than maybe a B-, and the past 10 years, have been shrinking a bit, so I sometimes want a bit more than my present A cup, so I have used s few of the tricks you outlined. However, I have found one thing better than you outlined, though they are not always easy to find. Instead of balloon or even the ones labeled as water balloons, which are a bit heavier, I look for a very heavy version, which 1s sold with a heavy rubber band maybe 6-8 inches in diameter. The balloon has a nipple opposite the inflation opening, The rubber band is to let one snap it and pop it around. They are usually in the toy section but not with other balloons. Filled only to full size, without any extra pressure, they make a decent CD form, or, for my purposes, only half way, they fill out a b-C cup within my brassieres.

I never though of using the water absorbing gel in a diaper as a filling. I have tried various puddings, and they work fairly well.

One thing you did not mention, no matter what type of balloon is used, and I suspect, even with the gel ... get rid of any bubbles, so they do not make a sloshing sounds when you move !! Holly

Balloons also filled with Rice works well too, take the rice that comes in boil in bags and use one bag for each balloon, so that way there is an equal amount of rice in each balloon and also make sure you use the large round balloons. P

Need to gain an extra bit of protrusion to your concave soft silicone forms then take a Nerf Ball and cut exactly in half and place behind each form. Suddenly you have 2 completely diffeernt sized sets of boobs for the price of pennies. Can’t beat it. Millie x

I read somewhere that the colored gel (usually blu) found in the soft packets for keeping the contents of a cooler bag at low temps is really good. Having used seed before I find the gel much more realistic. Use good quality food bags and fill with the desired amount of gel one of the bottom corners and then tie off securely. Place each bag inside a cut off foot from pantyhose for added protection and much nicer feel. I use a measure to get almost a cup full of the gel from the packs for each boob and finds that fills my c cup bra. The gel has genuine jigle and warms very quickly to body temp. I sleep in mine and they are much more comfortable compared to the old bird seed ones. Denise

We have also received a long description on how to make your own moulds and then your own latex breastforms using the moulds. The process is a long one and certainly not for the beginner. We are just seeking clarification on one or two of the more intricate details of the process and once clarified we will share this with you in an easy to understand article.
