ACCESSORIES ADD STYLE AND GLAMOUR
With the end of year festivities coming up what better way to dress up a simple outfit than with the careful strategic purchasing of a few ‘must-have’ accessories. Many gurls will overlook this essential step to elevate their outfit and let their beauty shine through. Carefully chosen, accessories will complement your style and add a whole you new look to something as simple as a Little Black Dress. A pair of simple sparkling crystal earrings and a matching bracelet, necklace and ring will not only look very chic but will transform your simple dress into an individual outfit so that you stand out from the crowd.
Also, bear in mind that by the introduction of some simple accessories you can wear that same favorite dress you have over and over but the outfit will look different and new. These days it is far more important to buy essential classic pieces for your wardrobe and then dress them up by changing the accessories than having to go out and buy a whole new outfit. Times are hard for many out there and here at GlamourBoutique.com we promote using what you have in a clever way by the simple introduction of accessories. Accessories can include shoes, clutch bags, belts, necklaces, earrings, anklets, bracelets, scarves etc but we advise concentrating on one key accessory and then adding a few lesser ones to make the maximum impact. So, what are the key accessories gurls should concentrate on ?
The outfit we sell the most of is a variation of a little black dress of which we have 3 – the Chev1 Dress, the plain tight Little Black Dress and Sham Dress with its lace detail. On their own they are classic garments but add some accessories and they become glamorous, chic outfits full of personality and individuality. So what 4 or 5 accessories will turn your simple black dress into a stand-out party outfit ?
- Shoes – try to coordinate any belt and/or clutch bag with your shoes to really tie an outfit together i.e. if wearing a simple pair of black pumps then co-ordinate with either a black belt, a black clutch bag or both. If you decide on silver strappy sandals then again match the color of the bag and belt to silver.
- Belt – A wide belt of 2 inches or more will not only be a focal point of interest but will also give the illusion of a defined waist/figure and on its own can literally transform a plain dress into a eye-catching silhouette. We recommend ‘stretch’ belts that you can use as a partial cinching aid to give that added definition.
- Clutch Bag – Keep it small and simple at 10 to 12 inches long maximum. Sometimes clutch bags come with a shoulder strap and these can often be detached or tucked inside the bag itself. Not only is a clutch bag a great color coordinated accessory with a pair of shoes and or belt but it’s great prop and when held correctly gives a very feminine shape/look.
- Jewelry – For party season make sure your jewelry accessories stand out and do this by going large like oversize Hoop Earrings or crystal earrings that will catch the light and really sparkle. This is particularly important if you are wearing a feminizing wig that frames your face; make sure your earrings can be seen.
- Scarves – Part of the secret of a good accessory is choosing in a classic color and shape that gives it multi-uses with different outfits. A scarf can be used as a bright color contrast to your simple dress and used around the neck, as a belt and even as a headscarf a la Audrey Hepburn.
Concentrate on one accessory as the starting point e.g. a clutch bag and then keep additional accessories simple so they are not all grabbing for visual attention but help to enhance the bag. Bear in mind too that you don’t need to wear all of the above with each outfit. If dressing up a Little Black Dress then maybe try to match a belt with your pumps and then a pair of dangle crystal earrings, a crystal bracelet and even ring with give great effect. Try not to get too hung up about color e.g. shoes and bags do not have to match and you can wear silver and gold jewelry together.
Just a few inexpensive pieces will instantly personalize your outfit and lift your appearance to one that gets you noticed for all the right reasons. Have fun with it and if in doubt keep it very simple and stylish – silver and crystal and black and silver or red always are classic and sexy looks particularly in the party season.
